WHY WOOD?

After intense research and expert interviews, we discovered that TENCEL ™ Modal fibers are the best material for creating the perfect towel.

In addition to being way softer and more absorbent than cotton or other fibers, the material is sourced from reforested forestry operations in Europe without irrigation.

The wood is certified or inspected according to the FSC® and/or PEFC™ standards.

TENCEL™ Modal fibers are produced by Eco Soft technology in Austria by Lenzing. They are the state of the art producer and evironmentally responsible, offering exquisite softness to textiles. The technology is an integrated process, from pulp to fiber, which has high recovery rates of process ingredients and causes very low air emissions.

WHERE'S THE WOOD AT?

Our wood is only sourced from certified sustainable forestry operations. More than half of the trees come from local forests in Austria. The rest is sourced from neighbouring countries in Central Europe. To ensure short transportations routes the forests are never further away than 500 km from the production facility in Lenzing

In all countries of origin, the reforestation exceeds the quantities harvested for sustainable usage by a third.

The wood primarily comes from timber generated by thinning, a practice applied in sustainable foresting. Thus, the timber (e.g. storm wood) that is unsuitable for other wood-based products, such as furniture, is used and finds a meaningful purpose in our towel.

On top reforestation of the beechwood from Europe we plant 2 additional trees with our partners in the southern hemisphere.
